Chris Foster is a multimedia artist from Northern Virginia, now operating out of Richmond, Virginia. Art has always been a part of Chris’s life from a young age which led him to get his Associates of art from NOVA before getting is BFA in Communication Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University. Chris specializes in Digital and Physical paintings as well as 3D mediums and miniature making.

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Chris operates alongside his husband, fellow artist Hansheng Lee, with whom he contributes to the vibrant local art community through their collaboration with Art Collective International. From small to large-scale projects, Chris’s work spans watercolor, stencil work, resin art, and meticulously crafted miniatures—including miniature paintings, cabochons, realistic food replicas, and botanical illustrations. His work often explores the elegance of fabric, the fluidity of smoke, the vibrancy of nature, or the flow of water, creating an immersive experience on a miniature scale.
Growing up in Manassas, Virginia, Chris developed a passion for art at a young age. His work reflects a deep-rooted admiration for the Art Nouveau movement, drawing inspiration from legendary figures like Antoni Gaudí and Alphonse Mucha. These influences, along with subtle touches of Asian artistic motifs, lend his pieces an ornate, fluid quality that captures both structure and whimsy. His mastery in creating tactile, layered designs allows his art to resonate on a multisensory level, whether he’s working on an intricate miniature or a larger-scale composition.
In addition to his fine art, Chris is an accomplished designer with expertise in logo design, typography, and illustration. His graphic work embodies the same meticulous attention to detail that defines his fine art, translating complex artistic influences into clean, visually engaging logos and type treatments that feel both modern and timeless. Whether crafting branding elements, illustrating themes, or developing unique typographic designs, Chris's approach is grounded in precision and artistic sensibility.
